![]() There’s settings to control the view and zoom a bit, so you can find a balance of seeing enough without being zoomed out too much. The game works great on the iPhone because of the really simple controls and portrait orientation. Developers did a good job of shortening the time it takes from opening the game to getting on the road, although this can always be improved (see _Skate City_’s Force Touch icon feature). I put in a couple hours and barely scratched the surface.Įach level is only ~2 minutes long so it’s easy to pick up and play when you have a short break. There are daily challenges and all sorts of stuff. After every level you earn stars and HP, which you can use to access a new vehicle or level up your car. Several race modes (basically crash, don’t crash, race, and a couple more), several freeway levels, and several vehicle types from sports car to box truck. ![]() It’s so hard to create a game with controls so intuitive that you no longer even notice them but this game nails it. The car handles perfectly - it has a dreamlike snowboarding gliding feel, as you slide your thumb left or right. ![]() Your car is in the lower portion, and your job is to steer left and right, either avoiding crashes, or causing crashes, or beating the clock at great speed. The game is oriented in portrait mode, and it is an overhead view of a never ending ribbon of freeway. There’s no real depth or complexity here, but it gives you that lizard brain dopamine addictive gaming bump that you need sometimes. Speed Demons is a very fun game - a one-finger casual freeway racer that occupies you for a few minutes when you want it.
